my husband and i both play the game, and we run our own guild and find like-minded people that we can have a good time with doing pve or pvp. as of right now we are a very hard core pvp guild, but during the day we do other things(pve). i think my name has already been brought to your(Xorena) attention by another husband/wife team. those of us in the DWC would be more than happy to have you and your hubby with us, we dont' mind doing a bit of training or just hanging out in vent or whatever(which we do most of the time)so just pm me in game, i'm sure you already have my ign so i won't repost it.

I'd say you can be mature in attitude at a young age.

Imo, age only brings experience and knowledge, and not neccesarily maturity.

I'm 14 and I've been playing Guild Wars since the Beta Weekend Events, (Remember those? ) and I consider myself to be a mature player who's only after a good time. I've had my share of rude and immature people, and I don't like what I see, but you have to think about what age groups this game is aiming for. I'm sure ANet would like to see a variety of age groups, but the fact is, there are more young teenage boys (including myself) that play this game than anything else. I don't think there is anything we can do to stop the immaturity other than ignore it and report it because it's just in the nature of kids my age to do that kind of stuff. No, I'm not proud of it, but I think that it's the responsibility of the parents to monitor the kind of stuff that kids do. What do you guys think?

*cough* Because we all know deep down in the bowels of our cerebral cortex that all younger players are incapable of maturity. *cough*

Don't expect to find any disagreement (or immature people, for that matter) on a forum like this one. We've all taken the minimum effort to register and post on the forum. We've all taken pains to be maintain decorum as well, because the mods do a good job of panning the crud to find the gems here; asshats aren't likely to remain residents for long. Therefore anyone likely to respond to a thread like this is likely to be one of the silently mature players.

I say silently mature because the loud, fast-talking idiots give themselves much more of a presence in-game than do the sententious sophisticates. That's hardly a fair term, but it was so musical I had to use it anway. Thereby proving that at the very least I have a large vocabulary; something often associated with those of greater maturity. Though it is true that everyone has equal access to a dictionary. But how many of them actually use expressions like mordant aspersions? To be fair, I never have either, but that's only because I'm still waiting for the right moment.

If you already belong to a well-adjusted and well-populated guild +/- alliance, why should you ever need to turn on the local chat? All the chattering nincompoops, and the vanishingly small number of conversation-starved intelligentsia alike, can pass like a faint ripple in a pond on the other side of the planet. According to chaos theory, they and their actions still affect you, but you'd be hard pressed to say how.

Maturity is not an absolute, either. It isn't really an accurate measure of a person - only a general abstraction of how they might be given to respond in a specific situation. How else could I see it, as one whose bookcase contains both Captain Underpants and Nietzsche?

An immature person's deeds are a mature person's thoughts. And don't you forget it.

Or,
Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Part of the problem is one of how your mind works. It's human nature to remember the things that stick out, such as someone being rude or immature, and forget the cases of someone NOT acting this way, as they don't grab our attention. The mind then overestimates the prevalence of the attention-grabbing event. This is why people fear planes more than cars (despite the fact that you are far more likely to die in a car). Similarly, it is easy to think that the game is overpopulated by immature people. It doesn't help that those immature people are the ones likely to type more in local chat, whisper rude things, etc. Meanwhile everyone else is carrying about their own business, often with local chat turned off. And I suspect that many mature people are in guilds, like mine, and don't interact much with the "community" at large, further making them less obvious.

I have joined many pugs to do missions, and yes there are immature people. But the vast majority of people are simply silent, just following along. So even if every pug contained 1-2 complete jerks, there'd still be more mature people in the group. Even in pvp, I have noticed that the majority of players are not acting immature. They just don't do anything that attracts attention to them.

46 ...damn kids..) Some of these folks being rude might be because of age but I think alot is just lack of...whats that word...oh common courtesy.I think alot need a class in it or wall to wall counseling..) It is too bad because not everyone in GW is a yutt. There are some real good people out there and if you find a good pug it a blast.Maybe as suggested you can find a good guild

I am very mature considering I am 38+ remeber Niel Armstrong walking on the moon and Nixon and the whole Watergate scandal not to mention the Vietnam War.I remeber real muslce cars when cars and not computers were the thing. The thing is it is hard to get away from the youger ppl playing this game and don't think that pay to play would stop it if they have a bank there is always pay pal. There is one thing that NC Soft can do and that is but a age limit on who buys the game at the retailer like 16 or 17.

I play with my very only active guildie and he is about the same age as I am and has a family. When it comes to Pvp I would get in a good mature pvp guild.

I just got into a team in Elona Reach where someone went afk shortly after the mission started. Then conviently when everyone else died trying to get the 2nd crystal he came back and picked drops that were left behind. His excuse was he/she had to go eat dinner.

What a crock! I think it's just plain old common courtesy to NOT join a mission if you cant set aside the time to even play it. That I feel is a bit immature. That is of course assuming this jerk wasn't a freeloader trying to get a free mission completed.

if u act like a grown up and ignore the ppl who act like babies, most people are suprisingly mature. Everyday I meet ppl of all ages who love the game, love playing it and are always open to receive and give information about the game.

Just ignore all people who use words like "noob", "--- ------- ----" and "----". The true childish players are those who can't express their anger and incompetence without the use of multiple swearwords.

ofcourse there is always that one person that is afk, maybe two, maybe three. If u got a team that is willing to work together, every mission can be completed with 5 persons (except if 3 monks are afk ofcourse ).

Its a challenge to do it with less persons, not a burden.

We're not talking about the game so much as the people
playing it, they're real. You're happy with yourself and
that's great.
It's good that you've reached a Zen-like state, I hope to do so
someday too, but it's probably not going to be any time soon.

somehow 99.9% of imature people i meed in GW are all under 15. yes i ask.
they dont have to be RUDE to be immature.

sometimes all it takes is 1 comment about the build and he rage quits.....and note: not a mean comment, more of a question.

or someone who thinks that since you had a converstaion in a PUG during a mission you HAVE to spend 100% of your free time with him/her, and when you say "no im sry im busy" or "i have to go" they get pissed off and start asking "why? what you doin? who?"

or when "real life calls" and they get upset because you CANT (and maby dont want to) to PWR lvl them..

i call that immature too

Well, I guess I'm immature since I'm only 17 but when I see all these kids playing it really pisses me off... I played CS: Source and I saw kids as young as 7 play the game when it's rated M 17+. Where are the parents looking? Usually all comments like "stfu noob im better then u i have 15k armor" come from these kids. It really pisses me off to see stuff like that but hey, what can I do about it...

guildwars wouldn't be guildwars without little kids. someone has to ruin it or no one would play everquest.
